chinese pied piper (and other walking adventures)

UPDATE: Went for a bush walk with Rebekkah today. It was more bush than walk. Going down was fine. On the way back, Rebekkah decided she wanted to follow some random lady back up. Turns out she was going some other place but she kindly pointed us in the direction back to Kijabe Mission Station.

15 min into this new path, we were met with thick bush. Really thick. With thorns and sticky stuff and barely any path. And we were severely lost.

“Let’s just turn back,” I said, a couple of times. “Oh but I hate turning back! Can we please just go forward? It’ll be fine once we get further up!” she pleaded. So I let myself be persuaded by a crazy mzungu. And then we reached a point where there was no turning back because we didn’t know where we came from anymore. Maybe it’s a sign that I’m growing old but I started panicking. We had no water, the sky was turning dark, storm clouds were gathering.. (I am not being dramatic here!), we had one cell phone between us but how do you describe where you are in the middle of thick bush? “Uh… it’s near that cactusy plant between the two mountainy hills…” I prayed desperately.

Anyway, we eventually found the way back up. You can’t go wrong going up. In between, we got stabbed by more thorns, were looked at quizically  by a goat herder boy and Rebekkah fell into some thing. Which threatened to break. (haha sorry can’t be more specific cos I donno how to describe it.)

So for those of you who think I’m pretty random and crazy, I can safely say I’ve met my match.

(Yesterday’s news)

After easter sunrise service at RVA, and AIC service, I decided to go for a little walk. So I walked to the little village of Magina, where Cecilia’s church is. It took me almost 3 hours.

Took out my camera:

Only to look back and realize I was being followed by a band of children:

Some kids were too cool to join in the fun:

  1. Walking through thick bush is risky – think snakes and other wild creatures. I should be more careful. Don’t take unnecessary risks.

  2. (lol)

  3. hey nat says theres a man utd game Thursday morning NZ time 630am. playing porto for Champions League. IF Man Utd lose the game, they are finished. and nat also said Macheda’s stats are not that impressive on the latest FM. What else u wanna know???
